IMEI identification versus GPS
IMEI is a network device identifier. GPS and device-location services use location technologies and authenticated owner accounts. They are not the same system.
Who may use network information
Depending on local law and technical capability, mobile operators and authorized law-enforcement bodies may use network records during an investigation.
What owners can do
Use Apple Find My or Google Find My Device, contact the operator, secure accounts, file a police report, and preserve the IMEI and ownership documents.
Avoid tracking scams
Be cautious of websites or individuals promising an exact live location from only an IMEI in exchange for payment or credentials.
Use IMEI Alert responsibly
IMEI Alert provides registry and case information that is available through its own reviewed workflow. It does not promise live tracking, universal operator data or guaranteed recovery.
